Mayim Bialik (born Mayim Hoya Bialik on December 12, 1975 in San Diego, California) is an American actress and neuroscientist. Mayim attended Walter Reed Junior High and graduated North Hollywood High in 1993. During a break in her career, she attended UCLA, though she was accepted at both Harvard and Yale, earning a science degree in neuroscience, Hebrew studies and Jewish studies. Mayim earned her Ph.D. in 2007. Before she became a doctor, Mayim was an actress, first appearing in the 1988 horror movie, Pumpkinhead. Her breakout role came in 1990, when she was cast in two television pilots: Fox’s Molloy, which was cancelled after six episodes, and NBC’s Blossom. Mayim portrayed the title character for five years. After Blossom was cancelled, Mayim focused on voice-actor work, lending her voice to cartoons like Recess and Hey Arnold! In 2005, she returned to acting by appearing in three episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her career got a second wind when she was cast as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler in Season 3 of The Big Bang Theory. She became a regular cast member in Season 4. Her performance on the show has earned her multiple Emmy nominations. Since 2014, she has also hosted a new incarnation of Candid Camera.Â

Personal Life:
Mayim married Michael Stone in 2003. They had two sons together before they divorced in 2012. She has been an advocate of Attachment Parenting. She is a vegan. Mayim is also an accomplished dancer and can play the piano, trumpet, the bass guitar and the harp.
