Ester Dean (born Ester Renay Dean on April 15, 1982 in Muskogee, Oklahoma) is an American rapper, singer, producer and actress. Ester grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma until she moved with her mother to Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating high school in 2001, she moved to Atlanta and became a fixture in the hip-hop scene. She worked with producers Jazze Pha and Chris “Tricky” Stewart, becoming a reliable producer and songwriter. Ester relocated to Los Angeles and became a successful songwriter, penning hit songs for some of the biggest stars of the music industry, including “S&M” by Rihanna, “Lay It On Me” by Kelly Rowland, “Mr. Know It All” by Kelly Clarkson and “Countdown” by Beyonce, “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj and more. In 2009, Ester released her first single, “Drop It Low,” which featured Chris Brown. It peaked at 38 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Ester lent her voice to the animated feature, Ice Age: Continental Drift, in 2012. That year, she portrayed Cynthia-Rose Adams in the hit movie, Pitch Perfect. She reprised the role for the 2015 sequel, Pitch Perfect 2. In 2015, Ester released her first six-song EP, and was slated to open for Nicki Minaj on The Pinkprint Tour
