Bio:
Ed Helms (born Edward Parker Helms on January 24, 1974 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American actor and comedian. Ed attended the Westminster Schools, graduating in 1992. He enrolled in Oberlin College to study geology, but ended up graduating with a degree in film theory and technology. After graduating, he began his career in comedy in New York City, performing with sketch comedy troupes and learning improv with the Upright Citizens Brigade. For some extra money, Ed worked as a film editor with Crew Cuts, a post-production facility. He recorded some vocal tracks, which led to continued voiceover work. In 2002, he was cast as a correspondent on The Daily Show, which launched his career. After four years with the program, Ed left to join the NBC comedy, The Office, joining fellow former-Daily Show correspondent Steve Carell. Ed stayed with The Office until its end in 2013. Also in 2013, Ed appeared on Arrested Development and the Adult Swim series NTSF:SD:SUV. Ed’s film career has included roles in major blockbusters like Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and, most notably, The Hangover film series. Ed was cast as Rusty Griswold 2015’s Vacation, the latest in the National Lampoon’s Vacation series.

Ed is an accomplished musician, playing in the bluegrass band The Lonesome Trio. He plays guitar, banjo, piano and sitar. He founded the LA Bluegrass Situation festival. Ed Helms claims he matched up Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres.
