The return to Downton is almost upon us. From the cast to the release date, here’s what we know about the highly-anticipated sequel, ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era.’
The Dowager Countess and the rest of the Crawley family are back in the full-length trailer for the ‘Downton Abbey’ sequel, which comes out May 20.
Lady Mary Crawley is getting married! Years after Michelle Dockery lost her love to cancer, the ‘Downtown Abbey’ star announced that she’s engaged to Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brother.
Lady Edith’s wedding was a gorgeous affair as the character finally got her happily-ever-after during the ‘Downton Abbey’ finale — and if you loved her wedding dress, you’re in luck! SHOP for a similar frock here if you want to recreate the look for a special occasion.
Lady Edith Crawley was left at the altar by one suitor and had a child out of wedlock with another suitor, (who was killed shortly after their evening together) — it is safe to say that she didn’t always have the best luck when it came to her love life! However, all the trials and tribulations she endured on six seasons of Downton Abbey led her to her beautiful wedding day during the series finale, which aired on March 6. Edith looked like a princess when she came down the staircase at the family’s estate, clad in a gorgeous white frock that was elegant and chic. It was the perfect look for her 1926 wedding.
We laughed and cried during the ‘Downton Abbey’ series finale, as Lady Edith finally got her happy ending. Read on for our recap!
After six seasons the time has come to say good bye to Downton Abbey — and the Christmas Special wrapped everything up perfectly! The biggest event of the season, Lady Edith’s wedding, is finally here.
Lady Edith discovers that her engagement got even sweeter, as Bertie is the heir to his cousin’s estate, but the miserable Lady Mary manages to break up her sister’s relationship by revealing the true identity of Marigold in this emotional episode — and that’s not all! A wedding and a suicide attempt shock the house. Read on for more from our ‘Downton Abbey’ recap!
With only one more episode of Downton Abbey left, episode seven proved to be a real emotional rollercoaster as I laughed, I cried and I even cheered for Lady Edith! For the last six seasons of Downton Abbey I’ve always considered Lady Mary misunderstood and I defended her rude yet somewhat endearing ways — even if she’s so icy that the only friend she has in the world is Anna, who is basically paid to hang out with her and do her hair. Well, her behavior in season six, episode seven was so deplorable even I couldn’t justify it. Misery truly loves company and the depressed widow couldn’t stand to see her sister happy. While she’s always the first to tear Lady Edith down she took it a step further by breaking up her engagement — and that wasn’t even the biggest moment of the episode!
Lady Mary and Henry Talbot’s kiss means that their relationship is really heating up — and she isn’t the only one with love on the horizon! Lady Edith gets closer to her suitor and Cora and the Dowager Countess are at war over the hospital.
Lord Grantham is back from the hospital and Mary and Tom decide to open the Downton Abbey house for tours, accepting the fee for charity to raise funds for the hospital. Although he doesn’t seem thrilled by the news, he knows there’s no sense in arguing since Mary already made her mind up.
The severity of Lord Grantham’s mysterious illness is revealed as he collapses in the most shocking, graphic scene we’ve ever witnessed on ‘Downton Abbey’ as the Crawley family is once again reminded of how fragile life really is. Read on for our recap of season six, episode five.
While the back and forth regarding the hospital continued to wage on, episode five proved to be action-packed, as the Downton Abbey gals were both occupied by their dating prospects and Robert, (Lord Grantham), had a shocking brush with death.
Possible new couple alert! ‘Downton Abbey’ may be ending, but the romance between co-stars Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox is apparently just getting started! After bonding on set for over a year, it seems that Lady Edith and her servant Andrew Parker are now an item.
Although they play characters in completely different cast systems on the period drama, Downton Abbey, Laura Carmichael, 29, and Michael Fox, 26, don’t mind mingling in real life! In fact, the pair is reportedly dating and have been “really enjoying each other’s company.”
This week on ‘Downton Abbey’ Anna has a big scare, and finally tells Bates her secret. Things also seem to be heating up in the romance department for Lady Mary. Read on for our recap!
Downton Abbey seems to be a happier place now that Branson is back. Lady Edith is quick to take the wind out of Mary’s sails as the agent, but Branson isn’t there to take the job away from her — they will share the duties, as Tom also seems eager to find work away from the house.
The day we have all been waiting for is finally here! Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson’s wedding is extra special when two family members make a grand return. Read on to find out what else happened in our ‘Downton Abbey’ season six, episode three recap.
The Downton Abbey wedding is quickly approaching and the engaged couple, Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes, still seem to be going back and forth about the plans. Mrs. Hughes wanted a big wedding breakfast and Mr. Carson wants a more formal affair, just like the Crawley family would have it. The sensible bride doesn’t even want to order a new dress, although Mrs. Patmore is quick to share the new catalog she got in the mail.
A kidnapping rocks Downton as Marigold goes missing and wedding drama brews as Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson can’t agree on where to get married.
Lady Mary stirs up major drama at Downton when she takes Marigold to the Drewes’ farm — and much to Lady Edith’s despair. Unfortunately she was off in London managing her new editor when the trip went down and did little to stop the plans, for fear of her judgmental sister finding out about her secret child. Since Edith couldn’t be present, Cora accompanied Mary and the children. Both Edith’s aunt and her mother think it’s about time they clue in Lady Mary. For someone so quick-witted and sharp, I’m shocked she still hasn’t realized that Marigold is her sister’s daughter.
Lady Mary’s actions in the bedroom are coming back to haunt her as yet another bold blackmailer makes their way to Downton and Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson discuss taking their relationship to the next level — we hear wedding bells! Read on for our premiere recap.
The year is 1925, and the Downton Abbey estate is bustling, as the episode opens with a hunt, where Lady Mary sits astride — times are certainly changing. The constant threats of downsizing still seem imminent and Lady Edith is even considering a move to London — but not without her big sister’s elaborate eye-rolling and jabs, (of course). Oh, how we’ve missed you, Lady Mary!
Sweet sendoffs, new suitors, a surprise engagement and baby mama drama made us laugh and cry during the season five ‘Christmas Special.’
The episode begins with the house preparing for a trip to Brancaster Castle, where they’ll visit Rose’s rude in-laws. Unfortunately Anna is still in jail so Mr. Bates stays behind, as does the Dowager Countess. The Russian Prince’s wife has been found and the Dowager orchestrates the long-awaited reunion for the couple.
Finally some good news for Lady Edith. On the Feb. 15, episode of ‘Downton Abbey’ Cora tracks down Edith and Marigold and orchestrates a plan for them to return to Downton without anyone finding out that Marigold is really Edith’s daughter!
Love is in the air on Downton Abbey! On the Feb. 15, episode Lady Rose (Lily James) and Atticus Aldridge get engaged and Isobel (Penelope Wilton) and Lord Merton finally announce their plans to the family — while Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) receives some terrible news about his beloved dog Isis.
Lady Edith finally finds out what happened to Mr. Gregson and decides to make a major life decision.
Any ounce of hope that Lady Edith was holding on to that Mr. Gregson would be found alive was shattered when they receive news of his murder — and she begins to sink further into despair. Girl just can’t catch a break. An editor from the paper meets with Edith and Robert to tell them that Gregson was murdered in Munich and Edith has inherited the publishing house. Although her widowed sister lost the love of her life not too long ago, Lady Mary doesn’t have a shred of sympathy for her sister.
Cora has a lot of explaining to do! The scandal reached an all-time high this week as Lord Grantham returned early and was surprised by quite the sight — and in his very own bedroom!
Although Lord Grantham made it clear that he didn’t like the fact that Mr. Bricker was coming to stay at Downton that didn’t stop him from “coming to see a painting” — which by now, we all know, is code for trying to get Cora in bed. What a coincidence that the night he planned on visiting is the very same night Robert was going out of town for a dinner?
The women in ‘Downton’ are total heartbreakers this week…and they can’t seem to escape their suitors. A new proposal, a love triangle and a change of heart rocked this week’s episode.
Unrequited love is taking over Downton! Who would have ever thought the day would come where Robert would tease his mama about her old “beau”? Well, that’s exactly what happened over dinner, when he asked the Dowager Countess about her encounter with an admirer from her past — and regardless of how cool she attempts to act, she can’t stay away from the Prince.
The fire may be out, but relationships at ‘Downton’ are still burning. Lady Mary and Lord Gillingham go on vacation while Lord Grantham picks a fight with everyone in the house! Click to read the full recap!
Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) is definitely looking for love — or lust! On the Jan. 11, episode of Downton Abbey, Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden) visits Mary just as she is about to take the next step with Lord Gillingham (Anthony Foyle) while Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) makes her intentions to stay in Marigold’s life known — to the delight of Mrs. Drews.
Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you don’t want to know what happened on the special Super Bowl episode of ‘Downton Abbey.’ (Just kidding. What’s football?)
I suppose I should expect it at this point, but can nothing go right for Edith (Laura Carmichael)? The Meg Griffin of the Crawley family got quite a shock — though not one we didn’t see coming — on Downton Abbey’s Feb. 2 episode, and her life will never be the same again.
