Patti LaBelle

Patti LaBelle (born Patricia Louise Holte-Edwards on May 24, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a multiple Grammy-winning R&B/soul singer, author and actress. She was the lead singer of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, whom with Labelle released the famous song “Lady Marmalade”. She later embarked on a solo career and found success with singles such as “On My Own”, a duet with Michael McDonald. Labelle is a member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. LaBelle has sold over 50 million albums and is on Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Singers List. As an author, LaBelle has released an autobiography and a few New York Times bestselling cookbooks. As an actress, LaBelle has had roles on the television shows American Horror Story, Out All Night and A Different World. She is currently competing on season 20 of Dancing With The Stars with partner Artem Chigvintsev.

Personal Life:

LaBelle was once engaged to singer Otis Williams, but they separated. LaBelle later married Armstead Edwards and they have a child, Zury Kye. They also adopted two teenaged boys, Stanley and Dodd, following the death of their mother, who had cancer. LaBelle and Edwards also raised the teenaged children of LaBelle’s sister, Jackie, after her passing. LaBelle and Edwards fivorced in 2003.
