James Marsden (born James Paul Marsden on September 18, 1973 in Stillwater, Oklahoma) is an American actor and singer. James grew up in Oklahoma, attending Oklahoma State University in 1991. While vacationing with his family in Hawaii, James met both Kirk Cameron and Candace Cameron. They invited James to visit them in Los Angeles. While there, James got the acting bug and decided to leave school to pursue a life as an actor. His early career included appearances on The Nanny, Saved by the Bell: The New Class and Party of Five. James first big break came with the lead on the ABC series, Second Noah, which led to his first major success as Glenn Foy on Ally McBeal in 1997. In the early 2000s, James found success in movies The Notebook and as Cyclops in the X-Men series of films. He finished out the 2000s with a role in 27 Dresses and the part of Prince Edwards in Enchanted. James landed a recurring role on 30 Rock as Criss Chros, the love interest of Tina Fey‘s Liz Lemon. In 2014, James reprised the role of Cyclops in X-Men: Day of Future Past in 2014. In 2015, James would star in three comedies: Unfinished Business, The D Train and Accidental Love.

Though they are good friends, James is not related to actor Jason Marsden. James married actress Mary Elizabeth “Lisa” Linde in 2000. The two have two children together: son Jack Holden and daughter Mary James. The two divorced in 2011. James dated Rose Costa. The two welcomed son William Luca Costa-Marsden in 2012. In 2015, James was reportedly spotted on a date with model-actress Suki Waterhouse.
