Willie Nelson has been a country star for over 50 years. He and his family are the subjects of a new documentary on Paramount+. Even if you’re not a country fan, you’ve definitely heard of Willie Nelson. The 90-year-old artist got his big break when he signed with Atlantic Records in 1973. He gained popularity with his outlaw country music, nasal voice, and off-center phrasing. Two years later, he jumped to Columbia Records, and it was there where he recorded his album Red Headed Stranger. This album was successful, as it garnered massive critical acclaim, sold more than two million copies, and reached Number 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
The singer, of course, only made even more hits after that, such as “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” “Forgiving You Was Easy,” “Always On My Mind,” and “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.” To date, he has won several awards, including multiple Grammys.
