In 2015, V. Stiviano was involved with Donald Sterling, the owner of the LA Clippers, which lead to a lawsuit from Sterling’s wife claiming Stiviano had seduced her husband and then took advantage of his wealth on purpose. Later, Stiviano was identified as the woman heard on an audio recording of a racist monologue made by Sterling. Stiviano was a key figure in the scandal, and had attracted the attention of league officials, and even then President, Barack Obama.

Jay Shapiro, an accountant who dug through the finances of billionaire Donald Sterling to track payments he made to Stiviano, ridiculed the woman’s claim about the source of $1 million contribution she made to purchase her house.
