Ryan’s character is based on Manheimer. ‘New Amsterdam’ follows Goodwin, a new medical director who seeks to break the rules to heal the system at America’s oldest public hospital. Ryan co-stars alongside Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, and Tyler Labine.
