An icon of Americana music, Robert Earl Keen first arrived on the scene in the late 1970s. The Houston, Texas native moved to Austin after graduating from Texas A&M, and began performing in local venues. In 1984, he self-produced his debut album, No Kinda Dancer. He relocated to Nashville to seek mainstream success, but returned nearly two years later with a publishing deal, a new independent label contract, and not much else. However, success was still in the cards for Robert. His second and third albums began to build a buzz, and he soon began to earn a reputation as being a “musician’s musician.” Over the course of his career, he released twelve studio albums and seven live albums. Some of his signature songs include “The Road Goes On Forever,” “Down That Dusty Trail,” “Over The Waterfall,” and “Merry Christmas From The Family.” In 2012, he was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame along with the late Townes Van Zandt, and Lyle Lovett, a man Robert first met back in college.
