Patti LaBelle – Photos Of The R&B Icon — Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in May 1944 Patti LaBelle is a beloved singing legend with a string of R&B and pop hits to her name. Her success spans decades. Patti’s iconic songs include ‘Lady Marmalade (Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi Ce Soir?)’ as part of the group Labelle, ‘On My Own’ (featuring Michael McDonald) and ‘Stir It Up.’ In 1991 she teamed up with her friends Gladys Knight and Dionne Warwick to record a powerful version of Karyn White’s hit ‘Superwoman.’
Patti doesn’t just have an impressive singing career. She has also turned her lifelong love of cooking into a business. Fans can buy her Good Life sweet potato pie from Walmart.
Despite being a self-confessed foodie who loves to bake and cook, Patti has successfully managed her Type II diabetes. The singer was diagnosed with the condition in the mid-1990s and has thrived despite the condition that her mother also had.
