First Ladies Style: Michelle Obama — First Ladies Melanie Trump and Michelle Obama have their own individual styles they have both brought to their White House. Michelle’s wardrobe tended to be a mix of affordable pieces with high-end couture for big events, but she always looked gorgeous and conservative. She also used her platform to elevate up-and-comers like Thakoon and Jason Wu, Melania has brought her high-fashion closet to the White House and is never afraid of a high pump (even when walking on grass — talent!) For Inauguration Day in January 2017, the two women’s contrasting looks highlighted the themes of their style. Melanie rocked a pale blue double-faced cashmere Ralph Lauren dress. It It featured a short, double-faced jacket with bold collar cutaway and three-quarter-length sleeves over a matching lean mock-turtle dress and was reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy’s timeless style. Michelle Obama opted for a red belted dress by designer Jason Wu and traded in her pumps for a pair of black suede boots.
