She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra, but the world best knows her as Meg Ryan. The actress, who got her first big role in As The World Turns, worked in supporting roles in films like Top Gun and Innerspace. It would be 1989’s When Harry Met Sally that made Meg a household name, as the iconic ‘I’ll have what she’s having’ scene turned Meg into a pop culture icon. She became one of the most successful actresses in the 1990s and early 2000s with films like Sleepless In Seattle, French Kiss, You’ve Got Mail, and Kate & Leopold. She also appeared in films like When a Man Loves a Woman, Courage Under Fire, and City of Angels. After the turn of the century, Meg broke away from her usual roles and began working more in independent films.

Meg also found success in love. She married Dennis Quaid in 1991. They welcomed their son, Jack Quaid, in 1992. Dennis and Meg separated in 2000 and finalized the divorce a year later. In 2006, Meg adopted a then-14-month-old girl from China, whom she named Daisy True. In 2010, she began her on-again/off-again relationship with John Mellencamp. In 2018, John and Meg decided to permanently make it an ‘on-again’ relationship, as they announced their engagement.
