Laila Ali was born in Miami to boxing legend Muhammad Ali and his third wife Veronica Porché Ali in 1977. She initially pursued a career in beauty and owned her own nail salon before following in her father’s footsteps to pursue a career in boxing. She announced her career move to Diane Sawyer, much to her father’s chagrin. Active from 1999 – 2007, she retired undefeated holding the several titles including the WBC, IBA female super middleweight titles, and the IWBF light heavyweight title. Laila has been married twice, first to Johnny “Yahya” McClain in 2000 and currently to NFL player Curtis Conway. The pair tied the knot in 2007 and share two children together. Outside of her career in boxing, Ali has been a fixture on television, appearing on various reality shows like ‘Wife Swap,’ ‘The Biggest Loser,’ and ‘The Masked Singer.’ She’s also a published author, writing the book ‘Reach! Finding Strength, Spirit, and Personal Power’ in 2002.
