Margaret Hamilton was born on December 9, 1902. She is best known for her portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West, which became a cultural phenomenon. Margaret died in 1985, but her legacy lives on. Her film character inspired the prequel Broadway musical, Wicked, to focus on the witch’s origins.
