Eric Adams, a politician and former police officer, is best known as the Mayor of New York. He was sworn into office in 2022 and continues to serve in his role, representing the state’s residents. Recently, an investigation led to raids on his home and the home of his chief fundraiser, Brianna Snuggs. On September 25, 2024, Adams made headlines when five indictment charges were filed against him. The charges were unsealed the following day, revealing one count of wire fraud, two counts of solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national, one count of bribery and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, federal program bribery and to receive campaign contributions by foreign nationals, according to NBC News.
In response, Adams addressed the situation in a video posted by the New York Post, stating, “My fellow New Yorkers, it is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with a crime.” He added, “If so, these charges are entirely false, based on lies, but they would not be surprising.”
