The presidential election is one of the highly anticipated events in America. In November of an election year, all American citizens who are registered to vote hit their local voting poll station, and place their vote for the new man (or woman) in the White House. In 2016, the race was between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Clinton, an established politician, activist and wife of former president Bill Clinton, was the democratic candidate. Donald Trump, American business mogul and multi-millionaire, was the Republican candidate. Trump won the election, receiving 304 electoral votes while Clinton fell short with 227.

In this photograph, David Jones reads a paper while waiting in line outside of a polling location in Mobile, Alabama on Election Day, November 8, 2016. The end result came to a shock to many, due to Trump’s extreme and conservative policies, but majority ruled against Clinton’s email scandal allegations as well. Take a look through this gallery for pics of this unforgettable election year.
