Diana Ross is one of the most famous singers of the 20th century, and she’s had one of the most prolific careers. After beginning as a member of The Supremes, where she played hits like ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’ and ‘Where Did Our Love Go,’ she embarked on an incredibly successful solo career in the early 1970s. On her own, she’s released over 20 albums, and has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards.

The star has been a family woman through her years in entertainment. She had her first daughter Rhonda with famed music executive Berry Gordy. Shortly before Rhonda was born, she married Robert Ellis Silberstein, whom she had two more daughters Tracee and Chudney with. Diana and Robert divorced in 1977, and she married Arne Naess in 1985, whom she had two sons Ross Arne Naess and Evan Olav with. The pair divorced in 2000. From those relationships, Diana has had many grandchildren!

Diana Ross was honored at the 2017 American Music Awards with a Lifetime Achievement award, and her kids appropriately came out to honor her. The singer’s kids came with their significant others and their kids! 

After putting on an amazing performance, Diana welcomed her family on stage with her. “This is all about love. I feel so humbled by this. I love you so very much and I think you know that,” Ross told the crowd.

Tracee talked about her childhood with Essence magazine in 2015, saying, “I understand how extraordinary my childhood was, and that my mother’s gift and all of the people who’ve loved her [have afforded me] the opportunities I have. Diana Ross smiled with her daughter Tracee Ellis Ross at the premiere of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part1.’ Diana wore a shining, dark red outfit, while Tracee rocked a green, patterned suit.

The ‘Blackish’ actress talked about what the superstar was like as a mom with People in Feb. 2021. “The Diana Ross that the world knows — this sort of global, international icon who paved the way and sort of changed what glamour looked like and who Black women were in the world particularly in that capacity. Her Diana Ross-ness doesn’t hold a candle to her mom-ness,” she explained.

“I’m so close with my mom and my family… She made a space in the world before I got here and that has been a part of how I’ve been able to walk through the world.”

Berry Gordy joined Diana Ross alongside her children and grandchildren onstage when she accepted her Lifetime Achievement Award. The family seemed incredibly excited for the R&B icon. 

While Tracee is an actress known for her roles on ‘Blackish’ and ‘Girlfriends’, daughter Rhonda is also an Emmy-nominated singer and actress. Their sister Chudney is a TV producer. Son Ross Naess is a renowned photographer and Evan is also an entertainer.

Evan has gone on to have his own entertainment career. He’s appeared in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films and records music with his wife Ashlee Simpson. He talked about getting the recording legend’s help in the studio with People in 2014, sharing, “[My mom] comes into the studio and helps me. She’s so good at it, and she’s been doing it so long. And she’s such a perfectionist. Sometimes I’ll be like, ‘Let me have a few practices before she comes in to hear it.'”
