Cassandra Peterson — Cassandra Peterson is an actress best known for her persona as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. In the early 1980s, she became a horror host for a local Los Angeles news station. In the 80s, she auditioned to star in a revival of ‘The Vampira Show,’ where she would be able to create her own role and image as the lead character. She created ‘Elvira’ and began gaining major recognition for her risque wardrobe, with her ensemble generally consisting of a low-cut, high-slit black gown. Elvira’s popularity eventually led to the release of a movie, ‘Elvira: Mistress of the Dark’ in 1988, followed by ‘Elvira’s Haunted Hills.’

Cassandra was married to Mark Pierson, who eventually became her manager, from 1981 until 2003. They welcomed their daughter, Sadie, in 1994. In 2021, when she was 70 years old, Cassandra released a memoir and came out as gay. She revealed that she had been with a woman named Teresa for 19 years at that point.
