Carlos Santana: Photos — Carlos Santana is one of the most influential classic rock guitarists and songwriters of all-time. Well-known for his distinctive playing style, which melded genres including blues, Latin music, jazz, psychedelic, and hard rock, Carlos’ guitar playing is instantly recognizable to fans.

Throughout his career, the Mexican-American rocker has released 26 albums both on his own and with his band Santana. The band was an instant hit upon releasing their debut in 1969, and Santana had one of the most famous sets at the original Woodstock music festival that same year.

Throughout the 70s and 80s, Carlos released a wide array of albums, but he had newfound success in 1999, when his band collaborated with Rob Thomas on the mega-hit ‘Smooth.’ The song took home two Grammys, and the guitarist won 8 of 9 awards he was nominated for total at the 1999 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
