Barbara Corcoran: Photos — In 1973, Barbara Corcoran invested just $1,000 into a real estate company that went on to become a brand worth multi-millions of dollars: The Corcoran Group. The mogul’s rags-to-riches success as a real estate entrepreneur earned Barbara a spot as a “Shark” investor on “Shark Tank,” beginning in 2009. The television personality’s success also led her to pen the 2011 memoir “Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business!”

Barbara sold The Corcoran Group in 2001 for about $66 million, and it was considered at the time to be “Manhattan’s second-largest independent residential real estate company,” according to “The New York Times.” Nowadays, Barbara receives a steady flow of income from speaking events and commercial endorsements for brands such as Amazon, American Express, and Toyota (just to name a few). She also hosts a podcast called “Business Unusual.” Of course, there’s Barbara’s gig with “Shark Tank,” on which she has made multiple investments for companies like Cousins Maine Lobster and Daisy Cakes.
