Nick Jonas rang in his 28th birthday on Sept. 16, but the Jonas Brothers band member already received the best present he could’ve asked for nearly two years ago. That would be marrying actress Priyanka Chopra, of course. Not just once, but twice!
Nick and Priyanka paid homage to both of their cultures by tying the knot in Western and Hindu ceremonies within the span of two days in Priyanka’s home country of India in Dec. 2018. We’re looking back at that magical time, which was filled with endless parties, gorgeous clothes and the happiest memories.
The Pre-Wedding Ceremonies
Priyanka and Nick had three pre-wedding rituals ahead of the Hindu ceremony: the Haldi, Mehendi and Sangeet ceremonies. Priyanka explained in an Instagram post that the Mehendi ceremony, which we’ve included more photos of below, is “an important part of the pre wedding rituals for the girl in an Indian wedding.” The lively celebration was hosted at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, which both Priyanka and Nick’s families attended! Even Priyanka’s future sister-in-law, Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, partied alongside her future sister-in-law while dressed in a traditional Indian lehenga designed by Anita Dongre.
Priyanka also received Henna tattoos, per tradition. For this pre-wedding ritual, Priyanka and Nick both wore vibrant designs from Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. Priyanka’s gown, featuring a dazzling array of colors and fun prints, was inspired by a “vintage AJSK collection,” according to the designer’s Instagram page. Meanwhile, Nick wore an “aqua bakhiya kurta.”
Nick and Priyanka let loose in another pre-wedding ritual called “Sangeet” amid the wedding celebrations, before the Hindu wedding ceremony. In an Instagram post, Priyanka explained, “It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together.”
Priyanka and Nick are seen above on the stage, holding hands, during the friendly pre-wedding competition. Amid the festivities, Nick even posed for a photo with all three of his brothers: his bandmates Kevin and Joe, and their little brother Frankie, which you can see below.

Nick and Priyanka exchanged vows during a Christian ceremony at the historic Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on Dec. 1, 2018. For the Western ceremony, Priyanka wore a hand-beaded and hand-embroidered Ralph Lauren gown — the result of 1,826 hours of craftsmanship! To top it off, Priyanka walked down the aisle with a 75-foot long veil. Nick’s tuxedo was also designed by Ralph Lauren to complement his bride, and his father Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. officiated the wedding.
The following day, they tied the knot once again in a Hindu ceremony, which Priyanka wore a ruby red lehenga designed by Sabyasachi for.
The Many Wedding Receptions Afterwards
Nick and Priyanka were infamous for throwing seemingly never-ending wedding receptions after tying the knot. The newlyweds hosted their first wedding reception at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi on Dec. 4, 2018, which was even attended by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi! Priyanka was the spotlight of the party in a Swarovski crystal-encrusted lehenga designed by Falguni Shane Peacock, seen above. The festivities carried into a second wedding reception at the JW Marriott hotel in Mumbai on Dec. 19, 2018. For this event, Priyanka opted for a gorgeous royal blue lehenga designed by Sabyasachi, which you can see below.
With all those celebrations and many outfit changes, Priyanka and Nick have been unwinding in the $20 million mansion in Los Angeles that they bought after the wedding in 2019. As the lovers approach their two-year wedding anniversary, Priyanka is looking forward to spending many more with her husband, whom she first met in person at the the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. “My forever guy…so grateful for you @nickjonas,” Priyanka wrote on Instagram, a few days before his birthday.
