Elle King’s dating history is short and sweet, despite being the mastermind behind the hit song “Ex’s & Oh’s.” The Grammy Award nominee was most recently linked with Dan Tooker, but fans were convinced that the two had called off their engagement after Elle gave a not-so-subtle nod to single life. Now that she’s hosting the 2023 CBS special New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, viewers are wondering whether Dan will make an appearance with her.
Earlier this year, the “America’s Sweetheart” artist told PEOPLE what she “learned” from her past romances and credited Dan with inspiring her recent music.
“What I learned from all of my relationships is that maybe most of it really had nothing to do with them,” the Los Angeles native explained. “We’re magnets. Why was I attracting them? Why was I allowing these things in my life? Why was I deficient in self-confidence?”

In 2020, Elle announced that she and Dan proposed to each other. She shared an Instagram carousel post of the moment when they both got down on one knee to pop the question.
“We rode horses up a mountain to go gold panning. I had a ring in my pocket, and I was going to toss it in the gold pan and propose to @tattooker,” she began in her caption. “But of course, my soulmate beat me to the punch and proposed to me the exact same way. So, I immediately got down on my knee too. I love you, Daniel. One year down, forever to go. I said ‘yes’ by the way and so did he!”
Dan also shared the precious moment to his social media account. In his caption, he also called Elle his “soulmate”
“She had a ring too for me,” he pointed out before giving Elle a shout-out. “I love you so much and couldn’t imagine eternity with anyone else. I love you forever and more @elleking.”
While speaking with PEOPLE in February 2023, Elle reflected on falling in love with Dan. Since he is a tattoo artist, the pair hit it off while she was getting new ink.
“There was this electric thing that I’ve never felt before,” she gushed. “We hung out, laughed, then he tattooed me, and I posted a picture and said, ‘Getting tattooed by my next ex-husband.’ We’ve been in love ever since.”
However, later that year, Elle sparked breakup rumors when she performed on stage wearing a jacket that read, “Single.” She and Dan share one child together: a son named Lucky Levi.

In 2019, Elle announced that she accepted her then-boyfriend Jim’s proposal. It’s still unclear when exactly the former pair broke up, but things fizzled out by 2020 when she met Dan.
Andrew Ferguson
Elle secretly married Andrew Ferguson in 2016 after three weeks of knowing each other. Following their whirlwind romance, their marriage didn’t last, and the duo divorced in 2017.
While opening up to the same publication in 2018, the “Baby Outlaw” singer explained why she and Andrew kept their vows a secret. “Nobody knew because I thought my mom would f**king kill me,” she noted at the time.
“Before we even met, I had started kind of losing my mind,” Elle admitted. “I was just searching for any kind of connection and realness . . . just f**king begging for love.”
