Wu Yongning, 26, was a Chinese daredevil who was a professional ‘Rooftopper.’ He died on Nov. 8 after plunging to his death while attempting to do pull-ups off the top of a 62-story skyscraper in China. As a ‘Rooftopper,” Wu would scale buildings without using any safety equipment, relying only on “martial arts training and careful planning.” He would tiptoe across narrow beams, and do pull-ups on the very edges of roofs. He shared more than 300 videos of his shocking stunts with his more than one million followers on Weibo before his tragic death.Prior to rooftopping on social media, Wu was a stuntman for films.

Personal Life:
Wu got into rooftopping to help lift his family out of poverty. His mother was reportedly in the hospital with mental health issues, and Wu needed to help cover her medical expenses. He was reportedly getting paid $15,000 to perform the challenge that took his life. Wu’s uncle revealed that he was hoping to use the money earned from his last stunt to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend, known only as Fu.
