Ted Danson (born Edward Bridge Danson III on December 29, 1947 in San Diego, California) is an American actor, author, and producer. He is best known for his lead character, Sam Malone, on Cheers, and on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Cyber as Dr. John Becker. Ted has also played a recurring role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and has most recently starred in Damages alongside Glenn Close. Throughout his career, Ted has been nominated for 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, 10 Golden Globes, one Screen Actors Guild Award and one American Comedy Award.

Personal Life:
Ted first married Randy Danson in 1970, although the couple divorced in 1975. In 1977, he married producer Cassandra Coates. On December 24, 1979, Cassandra suffered a stroke while giving birth to their first daughter Kate. Ted spent years caring for Cassandra and raising their daughter. They adopted a second daughter, Alexis. They divorced in 1993 after Ted’s affair with Whoopi Goldberg. On October 7, 1995, Ted married actress Mary Steenburgen, whom he met while filming Pontiac Moon in 1993. He became the step-daughter to her two children. Ted has been a vegan multiple times, but is currently a pescetarian. He also suffers from Poland syndrome, a rare birth defect. Ted’s philanthropic interests include environment. In March 2011, he published his first book on the subject, Oceana: Our Endangered Oceans And What We Can Do To Save Them.
