Skylar Astin

Bio:
Skylar Astin (born Skylar Astin Lipstein on September 23, 1987 in New York City, New York) is an American actor and singer. Skylar grew up in Rockland Country, New York. He graduated from Clarkstown North High School and attended Stagedoor Mannor performing arts summer camp. He enrolled in the Tisch School of Arts at New York University, but took a leave of absence to portray Georg in in the Broadway play, Spring Awakening, from 2006 until 2008. Afterward, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. In 2008, he was cast in the Steve Coogan comedy, Hamlet 2. In 2010, he played the role of Mark Cohen in a Hollywood Bowl production of Rent, directed by Neil Patrick Harris. In 2012, Skylar portrayed Jesse Swanson in Pitch Perfect. He reprised the role in the 2015 sequel, Pitch Perfect 2. Skylar had appeared in a handful of television roles, including episodes of shows like Girls and House. Skylar landed the lead in the TBS series, Ground Floor in 2013.

Personal Life:
Skylar’s father, Barry Lipstein, is a garment industry executive. He has two brothers – Jace and Milan—and a sister, Brielle. At 15, Skylar’s agent chose his middle name as his sage name. While acting in Spring Awakening, Skylar dated his co-star, Lauren Pritchard. As of 2015, he is dating his Pitch Perfect co-star, Anna Camp. Skylar and Anna got engaged over the New Year’s holiday weekend in Jan. 2016.
