Rudy Giuliani

Bio:
Rudy Giuliani (born Rudolph William Louis Giuliani in Brooklyn, New York, on May 28, 1944) is an American lawyer, businessman, public speaker, and former politician. After serving as the United States Attorney General from 1981 to 1983, Rudy became the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York in 1983. During his six years in that role, Rudy handled many cases involving the American Mafia, famously leading the case that landed John Gotti in jail for life. Five years later, Rudy was elected as Mayor of New York City, and quickly began to make several improvements to the city’s quality of life. Just before ending his term in December 2001, he gained international fame for his brave leadership in the wake of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Rudy attempted to run for the Republican Party’s 2008 presidential nomination, but withdrew and endorsed the party’s eventual nominee, John McCain. Rudy spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland in support of Donald Trump on July 18, 2016.

Best Known For:
Rudy is best known for being Mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001, preceding current mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Personal Life:
Rudy married Regina Peruggi in 1968, but spent several years separated from her before divorcing in 1983. He then married television personality Donna Hanover in 1984, with whom he had two children, Andrew and Caroline. While still married to Donna, Rudy began an affair with a woman named Judith Nathan, and their relationship became public around 2000, the same year he and Donna divorced. Because of his rocky ending with Donna, he became estranged from his children around 2007. Despite the strained relationship, Rudy revealed in 2014 that his relationship with his kids was better than ever.
