Neil Diamond (born January 24, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY) is an American singer-songwriter and musician.He began his music career in the 1960s and has sold over 120 million records worldwide in his 50+ year career. He is one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, with election No. 1 singles including “Sweet Caroline,” “I’m A Believer,” “I’ve Been This Way Before” and “Heartlight.” His song “Red Red Wine” is one of his best known original songs that was made famous by another artist. The 1970 song “Sweet Caroline” has become an anthem, and Neil has said he wrote it for Caroline Kennedy after seeing her on the cover of Life. However, in 2014, he said it was actually for his wife, Marcia, but he couldn’t find a good rhyme with the name Marcia. In September 2016, it was announced that Neil planned to release a folk-inspired Christmas album with a handful of other musicians in an acoustic setting. On December 1, 2016, Neil announced his 50th anniversary tour.

Neil Diamond has been married three times. In 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Jaye Posner, with whom he had two daughters, Marjorie and Elyn. The two separated in 1967. He then married a production assistant Marcia Murphey, with whom he had two sons Jesse and Micah. Their marriage ended in 1994. On September 7, 2011, Neil announced his engagement to his 41-year-old manager, Katie McNeill in a message on Twitter. The two were married in April 2012 in LA. His album Melody Road was inspired by their relationship.
