Miesha TateĀ (born Miesha Theresa Tate on August 18, 1986 in Tacoma, Washington) is an American mixed martial artist. Miesha socialized with the boys in her neighborhood while growing up. In high school, she joined the wrestling team. During her senior year in 2005, she won the Washington State’s Girlās championship. While attending Central Washington University, a friend encouraged Miesha to take up MMA. From there, she started her amateur career, going 5-1 until she turned pro. Mieshaās first professional fight came in 2007, at the one night HOOKnSHOT Womenās Grand Prix. Her first MMA title came in 2009, when she won the FCF Womenās Bantamweight Championship. A year earlier, Miesha debuted in Strikeforce, defeating Elaina Maxwell by unanimous decision. She went on to win the Strikeforce Bantamweight Championship. Her first defense was against Ronda Rousey. Miesha lost the fight and the title. After finishing up in Strikeforce, Miesha joined the UFC in 2013. She fought Ronda for the UFC Bantamweight title in 2013, but lost via submission. Since then, she began winning at UFC, going 17-5 by 2015. Miesha became the reigning bantamweight champion after beating Holly Holm during their fight at UFC 196 on March 5, 2016. She expertly took down Holly in the fifth round, at just 3:30 on the clock.

Personal Life:
Miesha is romantically involved with fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Bryan Caraway. They met at the MMA fitness club at Central Washington University. She is a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. In 2013, she appeared nude in the ESPN Body Issue and was named Fitness Gurl magazineās “most beautiful woman in MMA.”
