Mickey MouseĀ (debuting November 18, 1928) is a movie, television and music star, as well as one of the biggest icons in the world. Created by Walt Disney, Mickey first appeared in in the animated short, Steamboat Willie at the Colony Theater in New York City. Mickeyās debut was the first cartoon with synchronized sound and was an instant hit, making Mickey a star. Over 100 of his cartoons were produced during the 1930s. Ten of them were nominated for the Academy Award for best Animated Short Film and he finallyĀ on the Oscar in 1942 for Lend A Paw. In 1930, Mickey appeared in a syndicated comic strip, drawn by Floyd Gottfredson, and it ran for 45 years. He made his feature-length film debut in 1940ās Fantasia, during the iconic “The Sorcererās Apprentice” segment. From the 1950s to the 1980s, Mickey was primarily a mascot for the Disney company, though he did make appearances on The Mickey Mouse Club. He returned to theatric animation in 1983 with Mickeyās Christmas Carol. In the 2000s, he has primarily appeared on ABC shows as Mickey Mouse Works, Disneyās House of Mouse and the Disney Channelās series, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Personal Life:
Mickey became the first cartoon to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978. He was originally voiced by Walt Disney, but Jimmy MacDonald took over the role until the mid 1970s. Wayne Allwine played Mickey until his death in 2009. Mickey has been romantically involved with Minnie Mouse since their debut in the late 1920s.
