Kate Mara

Bio:
Kate Mara (born Kate Rooney Mara on February 27, 1983 in Bedford, New York) is an American actress. Kate grew up in Bedford and discovered early on that she had a passion for acting. By age 9, she was acting in school musicals and attended several youth theater-art schools. She graduated Fox Lane High School a year early and was accepted into the Tish School of the Arts at NYU, but she deferred her enrollment to work as an actress. Her first television role was on an episode of Law & Order in 1997. From there, she appeared on shows like Ed, Madigan Men and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. One of her first major roles was that of Vanessa on Nip/Tuck. In the early 2000’s, she appeared on Jack & Bobby, Prodigy and in five episodes of the Fox TV series, 24. Kate appeared in the first season of American Horror Story, and in 2012, she joined the cast of House of Cards. In 2014, she was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Kate made her film debut in 1999 with Random Hearts. She appeared in films like Brokeback Mountain, We Are Marshall, Shooter and 2014’s Transcendence. In 2015, she was cast as the Invisible Women in a reboot of the Fantastic Four. She was also cast in Ridley Scott‘s 2015 movie, The Martian.

Kate Mara is best known as an actress, portraying Zoe Barnes in House of Cards and as the Invisible Woman in the 2015 version of Fantastic Four.

Personal Life:
Kate is the older sister to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress, Rooney Mara. From 2010 to 2014, she dated actor Max Minghella. Kate’s grandfather was Wellington Mara, co-owner of the New York Giants. Her grand uncle is Pittsburgh Steelers Chairman, Dan Rooney. She is a fan of both teams. In July 2017, she married actor Jamie Bell.
