Bio:
Jon Bernthal (born Jonathan Edward Bernthal on September 20, 1976 in Washington, D.C.) is an American actor. Jon grew up in D.C., graduating from Sidwell Friends School before enrolling in Skimore College in Saratoga Springs. He pursued the arts by attending The School of Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. While in Moscow, Jon was discovered by the Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training and was invited to attain his MFA there. After graduating from Harvard in 2002, he appeared in over 30 Off-Broadway plays. In 2002, Jon also made his television debut on an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He had roles on short-lived television series, The Class and Eastwick. He gained popularity with his role of Shane Walsh on The Walking Dead and as Joe Teague in the TNT series, Mob City. He also had supporting roles in 2014’s The Wolf of Wall Street and Fury. In June 2005, Marvel announced that Jon would portray the character The Punisher on season 2 of Netflix’s series, Daredevil.

Jon played semi-professional baseball while studying in Russia. He is cousin to Adam Schlesinger, who performs with the band, Fountains of Wayne. He married Erin Angle, niece of professional wrestler, Kurt Angle, in September 2010. They have three children together: two sons and a daughter. Jon, with his brother, Nicholas, runs a nonprofit organization called Drops Fill Buckets.
