Bio:
Joel McHale (born Joel Edward McHale on November 20, 1971 in Rome Italy) is an American comedian, actor and television host. Joel was born in Rome while his father, Jack McHale, worked as the Dean of Students at Loyola University Rome Center. Upon returning to the US, Joel was raised in Seattle, graduating from Mercer Island High School before attending the University of Washington. Joel played with the school’s football team, though he did not letter. He received a Master’s of Fine Arts from the school’s Actor’s Training program. Joel moved to Los Angeles after he graduated, landing small roles in Diagnosis: Murder, CSI: Miami and Will & Grace. 2004 was Joel’s breakout year. Not only did he appear in movies Spider-Man 2, Lords of Dogtown and The Onion Movie, he began to write, produce and star in the long-running E! satirical television show, The Soup. While Joel continued to act outside of his hosting duties, he didn’t find success until 2009 when he was cast as Jeff Winger, the lead role in NBC’s cult comedy, Community. Joel continues to appear in movies and shows, including 2012’s Ted and as the host of the 2015 ESPYs awards.

Personal Life:
Joel is a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He is a die-hard Seattle Seahawks fan. He married his wife, Sarah Williams, in 1996. They welcomed their first child, Edward Roy, in 2005. Their second child, Isaac, was born in 2008.
