Javier Baez (born Ednel Javier “Javy” Baez in Bayyamon, Puerto Rico on December 1, 1992) is a professional MLB infielder for the Chicago Cubs. He was picked in the first round, ninth overall, in the 2011 MLB draft. He made his debut August 5, 2014, and hit his first career home run. He was the first player to hit three home runs in his first three MLB games since Joe Cunningham in 1954. Javier was named one of the NLCS co-MVPs in 2016.

Personal Life:
Javier Baez is reported to be in a relationship with Irmarie Julitza. He was born and raised in Puerto Rico and attended high school in Florida. He and his mother, three brothers and sister moved to Florida in 2005 initially to get treatment for his sister’s spina bifida condition. Javier’s father passed away when he was ten-years-old, and he was influenced by his father to play baseball. His brother, Rolando, was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2002. Javier’s sister passed away in April 2015 at the age of 21.
