Jamie Lee Curtis (born November 22, 1958 in Santa Monica, California) is an American actress. She broke into the film industry as a “scream queen,” starring in seminal horror flicks like Halloween, The Fog, Prom Night, and Terror Train. She shed her horror movie image in 1983 with Trading Places and later the cult comedy classic, A Fish Called Wanda in 1988. In 1994, Jamie starred in True Lies, for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy. More recently, Jamie is known for starring opposite Lindsay Lohan in 2003 movie Freaky Friday and also being the spokeswoman for Activia yogurt. Jamie has also written 10 children’s books throughout her career.

Jamie is also Jake Gyllenhaal’s godmother. Jamie struggled with alcoholism and an addiction to painkillers before getting sober in 1999, an achievement she calls the greatest of her life.
