Ja Rule (born Jeffrey Atkins on February 29, 1976 in Queens, New York) is an American rapper, singer and actor. Ja Rule grew up in Queens, attending PS134 before dropping out (he would get his GED in 2012.) In 1993, Ja began his rap career with the hip-hop group, Cash Money Click. In 1998, he signed with Def Jam and was featured on Jay Z’s single, “Can I Get A…” His debut album, Venni Vetti Vecci, in 1999. It peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, on the power of his hit single, “Holla, Holla.” In 2000, he released a single “Between Me and You” with Christina Milian. His second album, Rule 3:36 debuted at the No. 1 position and went on to be triple platinum. After releasing his greatest hits album in 2005, he took a break from music. He returned in 2009, creating the Mpire Music Group. He released The Mirror as a free download and in 2012, he released Pain Is Love 2, a follow-up to his 2001 album. In 2015, he released four new singles.

Personal Life:
In 2007, Ja was arrested for gun and drug possession charges. He received a two-year prison sentence. In 2011, he received an additional 28-months due to tax evasions. He was released in 2013. Ja Rule had a public feud with 50 Cent, starting in 1999 before ending in 2011. However, they reignite their beef in 2015 due to the feud between Drake and Meek Mill. In 2001, Ja Rule married Aisha Murray. He has three children – Brittany, Jeffrey Jr. and Jordan.
