Gwen Ifill

Bio:
Gwen Ifill (born Gwendolyn Ifill in New York City, NY on September 29, 1955) was an American award-winning journalist, TV newscaster and author. Gwen worked for the Baltimore Evening Sun, The Washington Post, New York Times and NBC. In 1999, she became a moderator for the PBS show, Washington Week in Review. It was also then she became a senior correspondent for PBS NewsHour. Throughout her life she appeared as a correspondent and expert on several news shows, including Meet The Press. Gwen moderated the 2004 and 2008 VP debates. In February 2016, Gwen and PBS anchor Judy Woodruff became the first woman team to moderate a Democratic presidential debate. She was the author of the best-selling book The Breakthrough: Politics and Race In The Age Of Obama.

Gwen Ifill is best known as the moderator and managing editor of Washington Week and co-anchor and co-managing editor of PBS NewsHour.

Personal Life:
Gwen is a Peabody Award winner for her work on Washington Week. She has also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women’s Media Center in 2015 and the John Chancellor Award For Excellence in Journalism in 2016. On Nov. 14, 2016, at the age of 61, Gwen died after battling endometrial cancer. She was unmarried.
