Guillaume Canet

Bio:
Guillaume Canet (born April 10, 1973 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France) is a French actor, film director and screen writer. He began his acting career doing French theater and television before moving to film. In 1997, Guillaume appeared in the thriller Barracuda and was applauded on his performance. Following his performance in Barracuda, he was casted in the popular film, The Beach. In 2002, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Mon Idole, which starred his wife at the time, Diane Kruger. In 2003, he had the lead role opposite Marion Cotillard in the critically acclaimed, Love Me If You Dare. Guillaume’s next role, Joyeux Noël, in which he appeared with Kruger, was nominated for an Academy Award. His second feature film, which was released in 2006, called Tell No One, was a top French film and won four César Awards.

Personal Life:
In 1999, Guillaume started a relationship with his co-star, German model and actress Diane Kruger. The two were married on September 1, 2001 but filed for divorce in January 2006. Diane had cited their busy careers and schedules for reasons of divorce. Following the divorce, Guillaume dated Carla Bruni and Élodie Navarre. He was reportedly romantically involved with his now-partner Marion Cotillard since October 2007. They had known each other since 1997 and starred together in Love Me If You Dare. They did not appear together on a red carpet until the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. They have a son together, Marcel, born on May 19, 2011, but have yet to marry. In July 2012, a French photographer accused Guillaume of violence after he threatened the photographer for following him home from the maternity ward after the birth of his son. The case was dismissed, however, and the photographer faces charges for false accusation and could receive jail time.
