Dave Mirra (born David Michael Mirra on April 4, 1974 in Chittenango, NY) was an American BMX bike racer and businessman. Dave held the record for most X-Games medals in BMX racing with 24 of them until being surpassed by Bob Burnquist in 2013, and medaled in every X Games from their inception in 1995 all the way through 2008. He was known primarily as a vertical ramp and park rider, as well as his big air skills.. He rode and was and sponsored by Haro Bikes since the mid ’90s before starting his own bike company in 2007 called Mirra Co. Dave also has his own video game for the PlayStation 2. Dave hosted The Challenge on MTV from 2004 to 2005.

Personal Life:
Dave grew up in New York moved south in the 1990’s Greenville, NC where his brother Tim was attending college, and Dave went on to birth the massive BMX scene there. Along with fellow rider Ryan Nyquist they soon turned the city in to what’s now called ProTown for the number of riders there who now call the city home. He married wife Lauren Mirra in 2005 and the couple have two children, daughters Madison and Mackenzie. Dave took up triathalon racing in 2012 and had successfully competed in numerous events. On Feb. 4 he was found dead in his truck of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 41.
