Bio:
Colton Dixon (born Michael Colton Dixon in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on October 19, 1991) is an American singer who appeared on the seventh season of the reality television show American Idol. Growing up, Colton was a choir member who got his start as an extra during the 2008 filming of Hannah Montana: The Movie. He graduated from high school in 2010 and is known for being a devout Christian. He and his younger sister, Schyler, are part of a Christian rock band called Messenger, and the two originally auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol. However, neither of them ended up in the Top 24. Dixon then performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2011 and auditioned once again for American Idol during their eleventh season. Dixon’s elimination on April 19, 2012 was considered a big surprise because he had never even been in the bottom three before. Since his American Idol days, Colton has appeared on various talk shows and debuted an original song called “Never Gone” at the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2012. On January 29, 2013 Dixon released his album A Messenger through Sparrow Records, which sold 22,000 copies in its first week. Colton has released two albums since then, The Calm Before the Storm (2014) and Anchor (2015).
