CoCo Vandeweghe

Bio:
CoCo Vandeweghe (born Colleen Vandeweghe December 6, 1991 in New York, New York) is an American professional tennis player. CoCo first started playing tennis at age 11 with her older brother. She went pro in April 2008 and won the US Open girls’ single that year as an underdog. She won her first WTA title in 2014 at the Topshelf Open in The Netherlands. The next year, CoCo achieved her best Grand Slam result at the 2015 Australian Open. She made her first Grand Slam semifinals in doubles at the US Open that year, as well. Although, 2016 got off to a tough start, but in March 2016, she received her first doubles title at Indian Wells. At the 2017 Australian Open, CoCo defeated Roberta Vinci in the first round and sailed through the the forth round where she defeated world No. 1 Angelique Kerber. The win advanced CoCo to only her second quarterfinal at a Grand Slam tournament. She defeated the seventh seed and went on to her first ever semifinal of a Grand Slam, where she will go against compatriot Venus Williams on January 26, 2017.

Personal Life:
CoCo is the granddaughter of 1952 Miss America Colleen Kay Hutchins and former New York Knick Ernie Vandeweghe. Her uncle is German basketball player Kiki Vandeweghe. She is also the daughter of former Olympic swimmer Tauna Vandeweghe.
