Bio:
Carla Mendoza is a former Miami Marlins cheerleader who is also the ex-girlfriend of late Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez. Carla and Jose dated for three years, and were even reportedly engaged to be married until April 2016. He broke off their engagement to begin dating a woman named Maria Arias, whom he got pregnant within weeks of when they started dating. Jose revealed on Sept. 19 that he was expecting his first child with a woman he didn’t identify, with people presuming that Carla was the one in the picture as they had kept their relationship fairly private. But it was later determined that the woman in Jose’s Instagram photo was actually Maria. Just six days after Jose shared the picture, he tragically passed away in a boating accident in Miami on Sept. 25. Carla didn’t initially issue a statement regarding her boyfriend or what she plans to do once the baby is born.

She was “devastated” upon hearing the news of Jose’s death and helped Jose’s mother cope with his tragic loss.
