Ben Platt (born Ben Schiff Platt in Los Angeles, CA on September 24, 1993) is an American film and stage actor. He is known for his work on Broadway as the lead in Dear Evan Hansen, and for his role as Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon. He played Benji Applebaum in Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2. In 2016 alone, he was nominated for a Teen Choice Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Drama League Award. In 2016, he won an Obie Award for his performance in Dear Evan Jansen. Platt has been practicing theater since the age of 6. He studied musical theater at Adderley School for Performing Arts in The Palisades, California for 10 years. His Broadway debut was in The Book of Mormon [2014], and his film debut was in Pitch Perfect [2012].
