Aroldis Chapman (born Albertín Aroldis Chapman de la Cruz on February 28, 1988 in Holguin Province, Cuba) is a Cuban-American baseball player. His currently plays in the MLB as the Chicago Cubs‘ pitcher. He previously belonged to the Cincinnati Reds for five years, and also played for the New York Yankees.

Best Known For:
Along with pitching for the Chicago Cubs, Aroldis is best known for holding the fastest pitch speed recorded in MLB history at 105.1 mph. It has been said that his speed increased to 106 mph during another game, but that record is often disputed. Aroldis also holds the record for striking out at least one batter in 40 consecutive matches.

Personal Life:
There was talk of Aroldis playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but due to an alleged domestic violence incident, that trade has been withheld. It was reported that Aroldis fired eight gun shots towards his girlfriend inside his Florida home in October of 2015. As a result, the MLB league suspended him for 30 games.
