Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero on August 2, 1959 in Santa Monica, California) is an actress, singer, former model and talent manager. She dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to become a model. She won the Miss San Pedro beauty competition, and also became a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Rams in the early 1980’s. Apollonia landed the female lead role opposite Prince in Purple Rain. She had her first solo album in 1988, which was released by Warner Bros. Records. The album was called Apollonia, and three singles were released, “Since I Fell for You”, “The Same Dream” and “Mismatch”.
Best Known For:
She is best known for co-starring in Prince’s 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer in the girl group Apollonia 6. She also dated Prince briefly who she revealed was a fun-loving, outgoing, humble, God-fearing man.
Personal Life:
Apollonia is the daughter of immigrants from Mexico and is the eldest of six children. Her father, Victor, was a restaurant manager and her mother, Socorro, was a caregiver for the elderly. She was linked to several men in the mid-1980s including, Prince, Lorenzo Lamas, Robbin Crosby, and David Lee Roth. She married Greg Patschull from 1980 to 1985. She was also married to writer Kevin Bernhardt, from 1987 to 1996.
