Bio:
Alison Carey (born 1962) is an American best known as the sister of singer, actress and producer Mariah Carey. Alison, Morgan Carey and Mariah were separated when their parents, Alfred Roy Carey and Patricia Hickey, divorced when Mariah was just three-years-old. While Mariah and her brother went to live with their mother, Alison lived with her father. Mariah and Alison would drift apart, and Mariah would cut ties with her father (and subsequently, Alison) altogether. While Mariah achieved superstardom as a singer, Alison’s path in life was much darker. At age 15, Alison was pregnant. A year later, she was married and a high-school dropout. After divorcing the father of her first son in the 1980s, Alison began working as a prostitute in New York City to fund her struggles with drug addiction. In the late 1980s/early 1990s, Alison contracted the AIDS virus. Mariah and Alison attempted to repair their relationship in 1994, but they had a falling out. Another attempt to reconcile was made in 2012, but it also fell apart. In 2015, Alison had a near-death medical emergency and in 2016, she required brain and spinal surgery in order to live. Alison’s brother, Morgan, blasted their mutual sister for abandoning Alison in her time of need.
