Hoda KotbĀ (born on August 9, 1964 in Norman, Oklahoma) is an American news anchor and television personality. Hoda grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia and Alexandria, Virginia, graduating from Fort Hunt High School in 1982. She was elected Homecoming Queen and after high school, enrolled in Virginia Tech. She graduated in 1986 with a degree in broadcast journalism. Her first professional job was a CBS news assistant in Egypt. After a year in Cairo, she returned to the states and worked as a local news anchor and reported for stations in Mississippi, Illinois, Florida and Louisiana. In 1992, she joined NBC, serving as a Dateline NBC correspondent. In 2007, she joined the Today Show, co-anchoring the long-running showās fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford. Hoda wrote a New York Times best-selling book, Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer and Kathie Lee, in 2010. As an actress, she has appeared on an episode of 30 Rock, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!Ā On January 2, 2018, it was announced that Hoda would be the permanent replacement for disgracedĀ Today Show anchor Matt Lauer.

Personal Life:
In 2007, Hoda revealed she had breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy. She is of Egyptian descent and her name, in Arabic, means “guidance.” She won the Peabody award in 2006 for her report on “The Education of Ms. Groves,” as well as the Edward R. Murrow Award. She married tennis coach Burzis Kanga in 2005. They divorced in 2007. Since 2013, she has been in a relationship with Joel Schiffman.
