The offspring of two icons have gotten hitched. Kurt Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and Tony Hawk’s son, Riley Hawk, are married, according to TMZ. Frances, 31, and Riley, 30, said “I do” on October 7 after getting a marriage license in September.
The couple had a notable officiant for their wedding. R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe performed the wedding ceremony for Frances and Riley. Michael is Frances’ godfather. Drew Barrymore is her godmother.
Frances and Riley have been dating since early 2021. This marks the model’s second marriage. Frances was previously married to Isaiah Silva. She filed for divorce after less than 2 years in March 2016.
Frances is the only daughter of Courtney Love and the late Nirvana singer. Frances wasn’t even two years old when her father died by suicide in 1994. He was 27 years old.
In a rare interview, Frances opened up about her father to Rolling Stone. “My dad was exceptionally ambitious. But he had a lot thrown on him, exceeding his ambition. He wanted his band to be successful. But he didn’t want to be the f**king voice of a generation,” she said in 2015.
Riley is a professional skateboarder just like his legendary father. Riley became a pro at 21 and has also been featured in his dad’s video game series. In addition to skateboarding, Riley is the frontman of the punk band Warish. Riley is Tony’s first child from his marriage to Cindy Dunbar. He has three siblings from his dad’s other relationships.
Similar to Frances, Riley prefers a life mostly out of the public eye. In 2017, Riley gave an interview to Thrasher Magazine and revealed where he sees himself in five years. “In five years I would like to be doing exactly what I’m doing right now. Yeah, if I can do that then I’m stoked. I don’t really have too many more goals or aspirations I’d like to achieve besides just getting to do this as long as I can.” Just over five years later, Riley is married!
