Kelly Clarkson, 39, and ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 45, have finally settled their divorce after seven years of marriage, with Kelly landing primary custody of the children, River, 7, and Remington, 5. Brandon, who lives in Montana, is getting the children for one weekend a month and for this he was granted $45,600 per month in child support along with $115,000 per month in spousal support, according to TMZ. It may sound like a major win for Brandon, however Kelly reportedly makes around $20 million per year.
HollywoodLife has reached out to both Kelly and Brandon’s reps and lawyers for comment.
As for their Montana ranch, Kelly will keep the property, but Brandon will be allowed to live there until June 1 of this year. He is ordered, however, to pay $12,500/month in rent.
The $17,750,000 ranch was one of the former couple’s most contentious issues as they battled over the property. Last October, Kelly, who is the host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, was granted ownership of the ranch, but Brandon countered that it was “marital property” and he refused to leave. The singer tried to evict him in December to no avail, but now, this settlement resolution will put an end to the dispute.
The reason Brandon received $46,500 in child support is so River and Remington (in the Instagram above) are properly taken care of when they spend their weekend a month with their dad. Kelly’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, can also return to court and ask for an adjustment should Brandon move elsewhere and his circumstances change. Lastly, Kelly is paying him $1.3 million as a part of the settlement.
Kelly and Brandon officially filed for divorce on June 4, 2020. Their divorce came after nearly seven years of marriage and two children. It’s been a long, often embittered, ongoing divorce with many twists and turns, so we’re happy to see them finally come out on the other side of the settlement and move forward with their new lives.
