Tiffany Haddish shot to superstardom when she co-starred in the 2017 mega hit Girls Trip alongside Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Regina Hall. Fans of the raunchy gal-pal comedy would love to see a sequel and Tiffany, 41, told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that she’s all for it. She just has one requirement before signing on to the film.
“If the script is funny enough and I could add to it to make it even better, I would do that,” Tiffany explained. When we asked the comedian, who stars in a new commercial for Cadillac, if she’d be interested in pulling an Eddie Murphy for the Girls Trip sequel and playing multiple characters, she laughed. “Hilarious! Oh, that would be a lot of makeup… They would have to pay me a lot of money for that one, honey! But I would be down to do it.”
While a Girls Trip sequel hasn’t gotten the green light, there’s plenty more in Tiffany’s life for her to celebrate — including her relationship with Common, 49. Tiffany and the “Glory” rapper started dating last year and even quarantined together during the pandemic, she revealed in an April 2020 FaceTime interview that threw fans in a frenzy. Quarantining apparently went well, because she told the world she loved Common in August!
“It’s the best relationship I’ve ever been in,” she confessed on Steve-O’s Wild Ride podcast. “I feel more confident in me and it’s not him that’s doing it. I’m just way happier and it’s like knowing I got somebody that cares about me, that really has my back. It really seems like he does anyway. And I love it. I love him!” She happily shared with HollywoodLife that “things are going really well” with Common.
Tiffany’s career is also thriving. The Like A Boss star won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album and her emotional response to the news went instantly viral. “You know, you look at that category and you go, ‘Whoa, only four women have won in the history of that category.’ Only one black woman has ever won,” Tiffany said, referencing Whoopi Goldberg‘s in 1986. “You know, I am not really concerned about trophies or anything. I am concerned with how do the people feel? Are they happy? Do I make them laugh? I don’t have to make everyone laugh, but just get some people and a majority of the population — I want to give them some joy in their heart.”
Tiffany hinted that she could be teaming up with legendary funnyman Jerry Seinfeld, whom she beat out at the Grammys. “I just talked to Seinfeld like three months ago, we were busting up laughing on the phone, we were like, ‘We have to work together! We have to figure something out!’ We have to figure something out. I need to work with him and it is going to be great.”
